So, I’ve got a longitudinal (split) tear in both of my peroneal tendons (per MRI). My only real symptom is pain at the lateral malleolus. No instability whatsoever (per the ortho foot and ankle surgeon). Truthfully, it’s not even noticeable most of the time. Only hurts when I bump it against something. My ankle really doesn’t hurt when I run either…maybe a 1 on a 1-10 pain scale. My doc says I’ll eventually need surgery if it becomes unstable or I cannot tolerate the pain. I’m sure I’ll eventually need surgery but really don’t want to do it right before summer gets here (and can finally enjoy the sunny, longer days). Anyone else ever have one of these split tears and been able to keep running?
