30 for 30 Tarahumara Special - The Infinite Race

Not sure if y’all have seen this 30 for 30 special yet on ESPN, but it is great -In 30 for 30 The Infinite Race, filmmaker digs deep into Mexico Indigenous group's running culture

The film does a great job of paying respect to the culture and showing the struggles that this community faces every day. How do they deal with it? They run.

Super cool

Hey David, I havnt gotten the chance to watch it yet but the Outside online story about it is very interesting. Sounds like barefoot running (or minimalist running, at least) is a practice of necessity for the Tarahumara, and heavily romanticized by readers of Born to Run. Either way, definitely want to check it out!

Yeah, they even make a joke about the fact that people are “choosing” to run barefoot…good life lesson of understanding the context of a situation rather than just focusing on what is immediately before your eyes

Howdy! I am brand new to this new Ultrasignup Forum and looking forward to keeping in touch with all of you.

The Infinite Race ESPN 30 for 30 documentary is very well done. It is visually beautiful. It is not necessarily a film about running however running is the common thread. It is a film about the indigenous people who live in the remote Copper Canyons of Northern Mexico. It describes the continuing challenges that these people have faced for generations. It is a film about cultural appropriation and exploitation.

You may find this movie interesting if you are a fan of Christopher McDougall’s book, Born To Run. https://youtu.be/6lp4aOACFWU
